The AATF Awards Banquet on Saturday followed by a concert by Josée Vachon will provide a final opportunity to recognize the American Association of Teachers of French NATIONAL BULLETIN many individuals whose efforts contribute to the success of our activities and to the promotion of French across the country, including our Outstanding Teachers, our National French Contest Administrators of the Year, and Summer Scholarship and Small Grant winners. The Bastille Day celebration on Friday evening will permit attendees to get out of the hotel and see an historic area of the city as well as to commemorate the French national holiday, albeit two days early. A Thursday-evening Clambake will allow members and their guests to sample the seafood specialties of Boston. The luncheon, hosted by the AATF Regional Representatives where attendees are seated by geographic region, offers an opportunity for attendees to meet others from their area on the first day of the convention. Social activities include the opening Welcome Luncheon following the keynote address and just prior to the beginning of sessions. ![]() (See the specific descriptions on page 39). In addition, we are offering eight three-hour workshops on a wide variety of topics, including teaching AP French, intercultural communication, French and Francophone songs, Québec, and teaching with art. Participants will not only be treated to a practical, in-depth look at using new technologies in the classroom, but they will also benefit from a pre- and post-convention Web site where they can correspond with Professor Waryn and have their technology questions answered by an expert. We are pleased to announce a pre-convention technology workshop to be held at MIT and directed by Shoggy Waryn of Brown University (RI). Although we cannot yet confirm a keynote speaker, we can tell you about the many wonderful workshops and sessions (see the preliminary program on pages 21-28) available to all attendees. The convention already promises to be an exciting celebration of French, especially with the inclusion of the Bastille Day street dance sponsored by the French Library.
